Academic class time

Academic Class Time

Academic class time gives students an opportunity to move about the classroom with purpose, using the hands-on materials and centers to develop new skills based on the curriculum and to sharpen learned abilities.

Social skills

Social Skills

Within our classroom are opportunities to learn new social behaviors as participants of a larger group. The two- to three-year age spread among children allows younger children to find older role models who in turn mentor their younger classmates. Children learn that, regardless of their age, each of them is equally important and receives equal consideration.

Table work

Table Work

Students use table work stations for a variety of academic activities. They are lead through new concepts by the teacher that may include vocabulary building, spelling, reading, science, math or art.

Using workbooks

Many students enjoy working in their math or phonics workbooks and using shelf works that encourage early reading, writing or math problem-solving skills.

To get an idea of how all these activities fit into a typical school day, take a look at our Daily Schedule (505Kb PDF).
